For those new to genealogy, we offer the Basic Genealogy Course. This 8-week course is designed to introduce students to the major resoure options and processes used in performing genealogical research, including many valuable research tools available.
The course is taught twice a year, currently beginning the first Tuesday in February and again beginning the first Tuesday in October, with each 1 hour session starting at 7:00 pm.
Classes are normally held at the Melbourne Public Library on Fee Ave., however, we have temporarily suspended in-person classes and are now offering the 8 session introduction course online via classroom video conference via "Zoom.com."
The full session for non-members of the Society is the cost of an annual membership, currently $25.00 per year. Course materials/handouts are emailed to students who have signed up for the course.
Online Course Schedule: Each Tues. 7pm - 8pm (first Tues. of February and in October).
Class size may be limited to provide more personal attention. Pre-registration and payment is required.
Cost Includes: Full eight week online course plus annual membership to GSSB.
Notes: A home printer is recommended to print course materials. No cost to current members (with pre-registration).
A current member can pay for the Fall course to automatically renew your membership in the society for the following year.
(The Society reserves the right to add a charge for supplies and handouts to students if there is a return to in-person classes)
